    • The “Last Millennium” A. Bowman uses a 16 year old bourbon barreled in 1997 and 14 year old bourbon barreled in 1999, both of which were pulled and bottled 05-02-2013.

    Abraham Bowman #6 Gingerbread Beer Finished 7yr 90 proof                   (??? 2013)

    • This whiskey starts with 6-year old Bowman Brothers Bourbon. It is then transferred into old Bowman barrels which have, in the intervening years, been used to age Hardywood Brewery Gingerbread Stout for 12 months. The 6-year old spirit spends an extra two months in these Bourbon-Stout barrels, then four more months in regular, used Bourbon barrels.

    ABraham Bowman #7 Port Finish 12yr 100 proof                                     (???? 2013)

    • This Bourbon is finished in barrels that began as Bowman whiskey barrels, then were used to age local Virginia Port wine for 15 months. 12 year old Bowman Brothers Bourbon is then aged in these used Port barrels for another four months before bottling. (If you’ve encountered this whiskey before, a prior bottling released in 2012 was quite different: an 8 year old whiskey that spent 8 months in Port barrels from a different winery.)

    • This limited edition A. Smith Bowman release was made from ~8 year old bourbons which underwent a unique finishing process. The bourbon was finished for six months inside of barrels which housed coffee beans for between two and five weeks. It's uncut and unfiltered, and bottled at cask strength, 67.3% ABV (134.6 proof). Only one barrel was produced. Limited release.

    Abraham Bowman #16 Sequential - 4th Used Barrels12yr 100 proof  375ml (MAY 2017)

    • This limited release explores how flavor profiles are affected when bourbon, first aged in new charred white oak barrels, is then finished in different kinds of used barrels for its final years, and also explores how the barrel entry proof affects the finish.
    • This release is comprised of two expressions, each finished in two different kinds of barrels. The first expression was aged for nine years in new charred white oak barrels before being transferred into barrels that had previously held bourbon for nine years. Half of those bourbon barrels were barreled at 125 proof and half were barreled at 115 proof, before finishing for three years and five months.
    • The second expression was aged for nine years in new charred white oak barrels before being transferred into barrels that had previously been used to age bourbon and port wine, and then were used to finish their Abraham Bowman Port Finish Bourbon, which went on to be named the 2016 World’s Best Bourbon by Whisky Magazine. Half of these fourth-use barrels were barreled at 125 proof and half were barreled at 115 proof before finishing for three years and five months.

Abraham Bowman #17  Sweet Sixteen Bourbon 16yr 116 proof                 (APR 2018)

    • Aged for sixteen sweet years prior to being bottled, this release was barreled in new charred American white oak barrels at four different entry proofs: 125, 114, 105 and 90 proof. Each barrel proof was evaluated individually over the course of sixteen years before marrying the barrels together to comprise the Abraham Bowman Sweet XVI bourbon at 116 proof.

Abraham Bowman #18  Bourbon Whiskey 14yr 146.1 proof                      (AUG 2019)

    • This limited release is the result of a failed experiment, which ultimately led to a pleasant surprise. Though the intended experiment did not live up to expectations, the barrels which were set aside to compare against the experiment, known as the control barrels, yielded an exceptional flavor, and an unexpected yet exciting result. The control barrels that make up this release were distilled in the fall of 2004, varied in proof from 143 to 151, and were aged for 14 and a half years in new, charred oak barrels. The final marriage of these barrels came to 146.1 proof. In the end, these barrels produced an outstanding taste, in line with Distillery standards for Abraham Bowman releases, and in an uncut un-chill filtered state, something worth sharing.

The initial experiment had focused on the effects that re-barreling at a low proof would have on the flavor, and how it would compare to standard aging practices. The Distillery took several barrels that had been aged for more than 10 years in a traditional fashion, in new, charred oak barrels, barreled at 125 proof, and then re-barreled them, reduced the whiskey to 80 proof and allowed the barrels to age for an additional three plus years. However, after tasting the resulting barrels at nearly 14 and a half years, the experimental barrels did not meet flavor expectations for an Abraham Bowman offering. These failed experimental barrels will not be included in this Abraham Bowman release. As such, this will be a very limited release.

Abraham Bowman #19  Twice Finished Bourbon 13yr 100 proof                (DEC 2019)

    • This limited release began in December 2006 when seven charred oak barrels were filled and laid to age peacefully for eight years and three months. From there, these barrels were consolidated into two-and-a-half barrels to be finished. First the whiskey was finished in Potomac Point Winery port barrels for four years and seven months. Then it was transferred into sauterne barrels for two months before being bottled yesterday, bringing the total age of this whiskey to 13 years.

The Twice Finished Whiskey was bottled at 100 proof, and will be very limited. These bottles will only be released to Virginia through the A. Smith Bowman Distillery gift shop on Saturday, Dec. 21 while supply lasts.
